- Participate in staff training sessions and staff meetings.
- Participate in work projects for the betterment of Camp Jackson.
- Adhere to staff rules and regulations.
- Provide current medical physical to Camp Director.
- Each staff person has a responsible part in helping maintain a pleasant, friendly, and cooperative spirit between all members of Camp Jackson staff.
- Be responsible for all camp equipment and supplies used by you or those working with you.

Junior Counselor
Description:
Assist in running a cabin for 4 weeks of the summer. Must also assist in a program area (outdoor sports, shooting sports or horse riding).
Qualifications:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Participated in Camp Jackson's Senior leadership programs (CIT's or Crew)
Physically capable of looking after up to 14 children
Ability to assist in running a cabin.
Ability to assist in teaching activities.
- Able to commit to 1 week of staff training and 4 weeks of work
Specific Responsibilities:
- Be concerned with camper development and growth.
- Be concerned with safety, health, hygiene and cleanliness of each camper.
- Prepare sleeping quarters for occupancy and departure.
- Familiarize self, as far as possible, with each camper and home situation, making full use of all records, etc.
- Learn the likes and dislikes of each camper.
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group.
- Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success during camp.
- Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems and concerns.
- Help each camper meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.
- Provide leadership in the development of camp activities, in harmony with camp policies and objectives.
- Encourage camper participation in the spiritual aspects of cabin life.
- Make sure proper table conduct and manners are used.
- Oversee general appearance and repairs of cabin and activity area.
- See that campers get all medication they are required to have.
- Watch for illness and fatigue in campers.
- See that they receive proper rest.
- Make sure campers are dressed properly for the activities and weather.
- Avoid isolation of a camper by cabin mates.
- Never leave cabin unsupervised.
- Set a proper example for campers by conducting self in mature and responsible manner.
- Be punctual.
- Plan and participate in special programs as delegated, i.e., evening programs, general activities, ceremonies and Theme Days.
- Work weekends as needed, with time off allotted to be scheduled.
- These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent, or at least 18 years of age.

- Ability to teach an activity (Archery, riflery, arts & craft, canoeing or outdoor skills).
- Ability to supervise other staff assisting in that area.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Be concerned with camper development and growth.
- Teach skills to campers in accordance with the camps curriculum.
- Organise a program area, including supplies and record keeping.
- Maintain safety standards in the program area.
- Oversee general appearance and repairs of activity area.

Extreme Counselor
Description:
Run the camps extreme program. This program consists of outdoor adventure activities for 13 to 16 year olds.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 or have completed one year of college.
- Experience working with high school aged campers.
- Sufficient physical strength to run a physically demanding program.
- Experience in rock climbing would be an advantage
Specific Responsibilities:
- Train teens in the various aspects of camping..
- Be responsible for the safety of all campers during their stay in camp.
- Have a working knowledge of all extreme camps.
- Prepare sleeping quarters for occupancy and departure of lease groups.
- Familiarize self, as far as possible, with each camper and home situation, making full use of all records, etc.
- Be able to instruct in all areas of extreme camps.
- Work with Assistant Camp Director to involve campers in special events such as evening programs, campfire and opening/closing programs.
- Correct teens as soon as possible for actions that put health and safety of a camper or staff at risk.
- Monitor the activity of teens, taking responsibility for groups or areas at appropriate times.
- Schedule teens time to maximize their efficiency.
- Lead camp trips following all standards of safety.
- Work with Assistant Camp Director to coordinate overnight campouts.
- Plan trips based on campers skills.

Leadership Counselor
Description:
Run the camps leadership program. This program consists of leadership training for 13 to 17 year olds.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21 or have completed one year of college.
- Experience working with high school aged campers.
- Previous experience in leadership skills is preferable
Specific Responsibilities:
- Train teens in the various aspects of leadership skills.
- Consult staff regarding CIT / LIT/SIT performance.
- Solve problems concerning relationships, functions, responsibilities, etc.
- Present written evaluation to each CIT / LIT/SIT at the close of the session. Give oral evaluations at least every two days as to their progress.
- Keep a personal file on each CIT / LIT/SIT as to his/her progress in skills areas.
- Prepare and submit to the Camp Director at the close of each CIT session, a report as to their performance and give recommendations for future hiring.
- Organize and develop with CIT’s / LIT’s /SIT's from each session a service project for the camp.
- Correct teens as soon as possible for actions that put health and safety of a camper or staff at risk.
- Monitor the activity of teens, taking responsibility for groups or areas at appropriate times.
- Schedule teens time to maximize their efficiency.
- Follow up and assure teens are performing assigned tasks as necessary.
- Write lesson plans that will foster participants’ outdoor living skills and environmental awareness.
- Keep records on all participants; help them progress from beginner to advanced levels.
- Work with Assistant Camp Director to coordinate overnight campouts.
- Plan trips based on campers skills.
- Prepare sleeping quarters for occupancy and departure of lease groups.
- Familiarize self, as far as possible, with each camper and home situation, making full use of all records, etc.
- To plan, direct, and supervise a teen leadership and outdoor adventure programs.

Wrangler
Description:
Run the camps horse program. Must look after a heard of 18 horses and organise riding trips for cabin groups throughout the week.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older or have completed one year of college.
- Training and experience with horseback riding.
- Ability to coordinate a horseback riding program using a course designed for camp.
- Ability to supervise other staff and volunteers.
- Must be able to lift minimum of seventy five pounds
Specific Responsibilities:
- Set up horseback riding area prior to and during staff training.
- Teach staff their responsibilities in activity during staff training.
- Conduct initial and end of year inventory and store equipment for safety.
- In consultation with Wrangler and Camp Director, prepare and plan a
comprehensive horseback riding program consisting of lessons and trial rides for Horsemanship Program and other groups as needed.
- Follow standard rules for horseback riding.
- Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, assuring timely arrival of materials.
- Instruct classes in horsemanship, riding, grooming, and safety.
- Coordinate all weekly trail rides for cabins.
- Report all program needs to Assistant Camp Director.
- Proper maintenance of tack, riding equipment, stable area, and corral.
- Work weekends as needed, with time off allotted to be scheduled.
- Keep records on all participants and help them progress from beginner to advanced levels in both trail rides and lessons.
- Responsible for the actions of all staff and campers riding or in the stable area.

Head Cook
Description:
Provide 3 meals a day for 100 campers. Must train and supervise other kitchen staff.
Qualifications:
- Experience in cooking in a camp or institutional food service setting.
- Experience with inventory, budgeting, purchasing, and menu planning.
- Supervisory skills to work with kitchen staff.
- At least 21 years old.
- Ability to relate well with others.
- Desire and ability to work in a camp setting.
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen procedures.
General Responsibilities:
- To provide nutritious and varied meals that are appetizing and on time.
- Adhere to staff rules and regulations.
- Be responsible for all camp equipment and supplies used by you or those working with you.
- Train volunteer and assisting staff.
- Estimate needs, order, receive and store supplies.
- Cook, trim, portion, carve, bake, etc. meats, vegetables, salads, breads, deserts, etc.
- Supervise kitchen staff, cooking, cleanliness, and scheduling of personnel.
- Record quantities, types, and preparation method of foods served.
- Evaluate current season and make suggestions for following season.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Prepare balanced menu for a two week cycle, and utilize leftovers (to be approved by Camp Director and a nutritionist or dietician).
- Order all food in consultation with Camp Director, keeping within budget.
- Receive all food and verify quantity and quality.
- Organize dry storage, refrigerator and freezers.
- Keep all food storage areas in clean condition at all times.
- Clean all sinks, countertops, floors and appliances daily.
- Prepare, on time, three meals a day during camping season.
- Develop written procedures for maintaining kitchen and dining facility in compliance with county health department standards, and see that procedures are followed.
- See that meals are prepared for during cook's time off before cook leaves camp.
- Maintain records of menus, purchases, and inventories.
- Supervise the volunteer staff members assigned to kitchen.
- Coordinate kitchen duties with assistant cook.
- Involvement in all camp programs as needed or assigned.
